ASML Imposes a Blanket 10% Price Increase on Spare Parts as Samsung and SK Hynix Accept New Rates for 2027 Deliveries

2026-10-12

The balance of bargaining power in semiconductor equipment is shifting. According to a report dated October 12, ASML will raise prices by 10% on all replacement spare parts for the equipment it sells into South Korea. The increase covers every part category for both extreme ultraviolet (EUV) and deep ultraviolet (DUV) lithography systems, and applies to products delivered from January 2027. Industry sources said ASML headquarters informed Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix through its Korean subsidiary in early September, and the plan was finalized after negotiations with the two companies' procurement teams. The scope includes routine consumables as well as core modules such as lenses, mirrors, light sources and precision motion systems.

A blanket increase of this kind is unusual: in the past, ASML adjusted prices only on individual parts when raw material costs surged or specific materials became hard to source. Revenue from services, spare parts and upgrades for installed equipment reached EUR 8.193 billion last year, 25% of the company's total sales of EUR 32.667 billion, and ASML expects that business to grow by more than 30% this year. Talks on raising prices for newly ordered systems are also under way. Applied Materials, Tokyo Electron and Advanced Energy have already raised prices, as AI data center investment drives simultaneous expansion by memory makers and foundries, leaving equipment and component supply tight.

For the electronic components supply chain, the price signal from equipment and spare parts is now cascading downstream along fab expansion plans, and cost expectations for materials, passive components and power devices deserve close tracking. For component distributors, shifts in original manufacturers' capacity and lead times directly affect stocking rhythm and quoting windows. Genuine-part guarantees, dynamic stock alerts and quotation feedback within 12 hours are what help customers lock in cost and supply through this round of increases, while a diversified downstream footprint across consumer electronics, industrial control, AI hardware and automotive electronics smooths single-category price swings.
